Chùa Bà festival
I will introduce to you about the biggest festival in my hometown(Bình D??ng) the : “Chùa Bà festival” also call “Mazu festival” actually, this is the festival of Chinese residence.
First I want you to know little bit about this god. Her name is Lin Moniang living in China about 960 to 987, she is a smart girl, at the age of 15 she became a good swimmer and know about weather forecast which no one at that time know. There was many legend about her. Like once time her farther and her brother went out to catch fish. But unfortunately, a storm coming. At that time Lin Moniang was weave at home and fall at sleep, her mother tried to wake up her. After she wake up she said she was save his bother but he farther was died. Since then she was help many people and after she died , people said she was go to haven and became the sea guardian also call “ Thiên H?u” in Viet Nam . So the Chinese where ever they travel they always pray for her to avoid bad thing.
Now I will tell you about how they celebrate this event. The “Chùa Bà” festival was take place in 14-15 January in lunar calendar which is the first full moon of the year.
In the morning of 14th the ritual start in 15- 20 minutes and then allow the people go into pagoda for praying and in this ritual often have “ get lucky from Mazu”. The “ lucky” stand for big stick and paper lantern. The big stick and the paper lantern can be understand you bring to your home the light, honor, and lucky. In the pagoda there are 15 lantern for workship “ Thiên H?u” after the ritual these lantern was auction and the money will help to build pagoda.
After the ritual have finish. on 15 Jan,The carnaval begin. Leading of the carnaval is a board wrote “ Thiên H?u xu?t du” which mean “Thiên H?u travel” after that is the “H?u” dance which this beast is the king of the whole animal so it can protect from devil. The “ H?u” dance have a strong move like fighting. The “H?u” dance is different from lion dance because lion dance have a man call “ Ông Đ?a” (the guardian of the land). After the “H?u” dance is car decorate with flower, weapon, fairy,dragon dance. And final is palanquin of “Thiên H?u” which need for man to lift off. This is the honor job so this jobs separate for four state of Chinese. For People living in Bình D??ng it must be a lucky year if you can see the palanquin of “ Thiên H?u”.The meaning of this festival is increase the truth, and make people feel please.
